A characterful venue in and of itself, and the size means it can have swells of people and at other times of day be more breathable. Service can be very friendly and engaging depending how busy they are.

Description:
Set at the entrance of St. Pauli station and the Reeperbahn, in prime position to catch football fans, partygoers and weekenders. One of a pair, the other set in Hamburg’s North, this is a very strong all-rounder that combines an interior strewn with rock-n-roll ephemera with more prosaic elements like cooked food and sport on TV.

Zwick’s versatility is really impressive how it manages to morph into several things at once without encroaching on one another. You could come here to watch a match, have a meal, for a quick meet up before heading elsewhere, but similarly you could arrive late in the night for a reliable drink (open til 2am most days and 4am on weekends), and at some points during the evening all of them are happening at once.

Service can be friendly and engaging when they get time to chat, and this also adds a welcome element.

Yes, it’s arguably a little towny and touristy too, but the fact it still manages to be enjoyable in spite of those hazards is all to its credit. For most people this will be stop #1 in St Pauli before the lurid delights and squalor of the Reeperbahn await to its West.

For fans of rock and roll, football, late bars, music or people needing a reliable meal before a night out, you can’t really look further past this place.
