Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Zoiglbier in their case bought in from the well-reputed Wolframstubn in Windischeschenbach.
It’s thick, amber and lush, worth visiting for alone. Apparently other drinks are for sale too!
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
An operation in a historic premises on the Marktplatz, you’ll find high ceilings and inherited wood-panelling, but the setup is now nearer a Czech Hospoda with basic, stripped back furnishings. Painted murals add to its personality.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Given the spartan interior it takes a few customers to drum up a bit of atmosphere but it occupies a niche and curiosity all of its own – a Zoigl pub run by Czechs.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, outdoor seating.
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Excellent value for money.
Description:
A Zoigl pub run by Czechs, this operation is a wonderful example of cultural exchange and gives the town a true borderlands feel. Set in the middle of the market place, but offering something more interesting than the typical café fare you’d expect in this location.
Inside, you’ll find something akin to a Czech hospoda. Simple furnishings, high ceiling and painted murals, with wood panelling and candelabras.
The atmosphere feels less stuffy, with less of the typical dining feel of a Wirtshaus and more of a social hangout where food is optional.
As for Zoigl, well this is not an Echter Zoiglhaus, only a commercial operation which happens to sell Zoigl, in their case from the well-reputed Wolframstubn in Windischeschenbach.
It’s thick, amber and lush, worth visiting for alone. But check out the prices for food and drinks – yes, you are still in Germany. Another bonus of getting Czechs involved. If you speak any Czech be sure to drop in a few pleasantries or even just a ‘Na Shledanou‘ on your departure.
Well worth dropping by when in town.
