Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A superior range for a neighbourhood pub with good cask, keg ales and lagers, with a standard back bar for alternatives.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Traditional pub in a brick building with bar room on entrance, side-snug and back room with TV. Back yard extends the capacity further. Interior of cushioned upholstered seats and simple tables, unspoilt.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Plenty of unreconstructed charm in the old fittings, while this is a distinctly untouristy spot in York off the usual trail. Gets very busy on certain match days, but can be low key and chatty too.

Value For Money❤️❤️❤️
About standard for free house prices these days, certainly not cheap.
DescriptionWhat you might picture as a ‘proper pub’ – neighbourly ungentrified hangout spot with a homely feel. Well reviewed. Smallish place with the usually appealing down to earth and non-corporate environment that swings from low-key murmurs and private chat to busy and boisterous on football days. A three room setup with a side snug and back yard, there are different areas to pick from that have their own feel, quite unusual for such a small place. It took a few visits to win us around, but if you’re familiar with The Swan, Phoenix, Golden Ball nearby and enjoy those, you need to add the Slip Inn to that last. (Added January 2024)
