❤️❤️
Local cask ales with typical low-rent keg options. A good pint of Guinness however.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of only two Northumberland pubs on CAMRA’s inventory of Heritage interiors. Little altered since 1910, a wood-fit partition screens the bar area.

Depends on how busy it is and who the crowd is, but there is a natural ambience due to the natural character of the decades past.

Very good value.
DescriptionFile under ‘love or hate’, this bunker boozer will delight those looking for an impromptu conversation, characterful surroundings and a throwback atmosphere, less so people seeking a wall full of different beers. One of only 2 pubs in Northumberland with a CAMRA Heritage interior, its history is apparent almost as soon as you walk through the entrance with its quirky partitioned layout and deep set patina of smoke, lacquer and damp. A fireplace helps keep things cosy, while a pool room to the rear is well used by local times. A real curio that’s well worth seeking out. (Added February 2024)
