DescriptionMicropub with small beer garden to the rear, the bar area is a solid wood fit which along with the beer ephemera and flags on the ceiling gives the place a little bit of a hybrid feel between a classic micropub, with its recovered furniture, and a Belgian brown café. Overall it’s a good look and has a bit of a distinctive character. Beers are carefully curated with a balance between cask, keg + bottle offerings along with a few ciders. For the size of the place it’s a reasonable selection. Before Brexit + Covid they used to boast 64 different bottles behind the bar, lots from Belgium. That is reduced but it’s still pretty good. With quiz nights, open mic, board games and books, this is a place to hang loose, and has its own community of people. Terrific atmosphere at times both at warmer and colder times of year. A real classic of its genre. (Added 2020)
