Choice/ Quality of Drinks	❤️❤️❤️❤️ High quality regular ales with ever changing guests. Cider options are ok while the back bar and keg options are less impressive but adequate.
Style/ Décor	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A showstopper, beautifully curated and maintained comfortably backstreet boozer with upholstered bench seats across two cosy rooms, decorated with hundreds of earthenware mugs and other trinkets like thimbles in large cabinets.
Atmosphere/ Character	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ As such a comfortable and pleasant place to spend time, it can be so quiet it’s just you, staff and the cat and still be richly enjoyable. Comes into its own when busier.

Description	Comfortably one of Birmingham’s finest pubs, and the emphasis is on comfort here. The kind of warmly lit backstreet loungey boozer you’d expect to find out in the Black Country, instead situated in Birmingham’s old Gun Quarter. These days there’s a motorway flyover and high rise towering above it. The light from the pub glows with welcome as you approach in the evening time. The interior decoration is impressive – a neat, but busy assortment of earthenware mugs on the ceiling, cabinets of thimbles on the walls. The personal feel extends to the service and the pub’s cat. Both lounge and bar area are comfortably appointed with furniture that’s reassuringly sturdy and chunky. The kind you can sink in to for a whole evening. Drinks are traditional but high quality with real ales from the region, decent cider and keg. Although on the periphery of the city centre, it’s an essential visit given the paucity of good options for pubs of this kind. (Added February 2025)
