Multi-room roadside pub with plenty of space, but appointed in such a way to emphasise cosiness, with cushioned booth seating, warm lighting and traditional decorations.

Somewhat of a waypoint between city and countryside, and the atmosphere feels like that, in touch with the gossip from both. The cosy, warm interior is seductive enough that it’s a true wrench to leave.

Reasonable value for money in line with the location and offerings.
DescriptionFamily-run for 50 years, the news in 2024 that the property was going up for sale caused whatever the Cork equivalent of shockwaves to ripple through local media.

A fringe of town roadside pub of a kind you infrequently see these days. The focus remains very much on its social and community bonds, a place to unwind, not simply a dining destination.

A comfortable, cosy warm interior across a series of rooms provides an environment that is a wrench to leave. Everything is well appointed, and well-kept but in a traditional, homely style.

Although it may look a way out from a glance at a map, bus connections to the North of town up to Dublin Pike are reliable and frequent enough, taking only 10 minutes or so to reach a nearby stop.

Even bearing in mind the dozen plus great pubs in central Cork, there’s no excuse not to give it a try.
