On-site brewery with 7-10 taps of their own beers, with some ciders available too and a decently stocked back bar of alternatives.

Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Impressive sprawling venue, a school building dating from 1889 which has received a sympathetic restoration. Set over two floors, with a lobby area acting as the bar, several loungers and upstairs banqueting hall with huge ceiling.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The complex feels both liberating and swaddling, big enough that you can explore each nook and cranny undeterred, at ease to do so. This is a not often found quality. The central location and historic grandeur gives it a sense of importance and institution.

DescriptionOne of a handful of truly standout buildings hosting drinking venues in Finland, a 19th century girl’s school repurposed in the late 1990s into a brewery restaurant. The combination of Belle Époque architecture and detailing with a brewpub is not often seen, yet they somehow manage to make it work. A lobby area with booth seating opposite the brewkit serves as the bar room, with several lounges spread around it, and a beer garden to the rear of the building. Upstairs is an enormous banqueting hall, the Bellman Hall which used to host gym class. There is much to explore and feel free to, as the sense of belonging grows as you start to realise you can be at ease here, there are no security staff to enforcer cordons or people who will chastise you for being in the wrong place, and that adds to its likeability. The brewery focuses on lagers which are in general a notch above the ordinary without really touching on superb, but their seasonal specials and one-offs also show plenty of creativity, and being Finland, the effort goes into keeping everything fresh and clean. Grab a brew and enjoy the feeling of being in a historic institution – keep an eye on the weekday buffet offering too. Those exploring Finland on a budget can fill your boots for a fair price.
