On high street opposite a church and museum, a prominent Fachwerk building. A 1970s era refit inside. Net curtains, mid-brown wood and house plants, with chunky communal tables.

The family aspect can be experienced at opening time with the generations all chipping in for their own roles and kids scooting around the place. Then as lunch service starts, the place swells and blossoms into life.

Higher than some Franconian pubs but within a margin that’s reasonable.
Description:
A family brewery since 1774 (by Franconian standards barely middle-aged) Mager and its Fachwerkhaus pub occupies a prominent spot on the high street of a honeypot tourist town, receiving the mixed reviews you tend to get from businesses who absorb inundations of customers.
We’d instead point to the excellent beers, with the Helles really a magnificent example of the style, with the Rotbier not far behind. These can be enjoyed in a Gaststube which is a frozen in time 1970s affair, mid-brown wood with net-curtains, house plants and large chunky tables.
The family nature of it is emphasised if you wander in around opening time, with generations all contributing to their particular roles, enhancing the charm of the place.
If you avoid peak times there’s a nice pub to enjoy here.
