Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Extensive range of pale lagers, peculiarly all of the same standard and background, but a couple of standouts. Extensive back bar with other options.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Retro-signage galore, crimson paint and a long double-sided back which leads off to side-rooms in both directions.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic, an immediate sense of being in ‘the place to be’, at least as far as the alternative scene goes. Totally unpretentious raw and fun pub going that will take you back decades if you’re British. No tacky rubbish like games machines, no betting channels on the TV and no right wing views,, this place has kept all the best bits of how it used to be in the early 00s in Britain and ditched the rest.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Table football, pool, limited outdoor ‘space’, smoking allowed.
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
Fair for the area
Description:
It’s great visiting a pub that immediately feels like you’ve stumbled on the place to be. Hugely popular and for good reason, as this bar provides a good deal of space for the largely younger crowd to socialise.
Connewitz’s scene leans strongly left-wing, though this one feels one of the more liberal and welcoming with it. Crimson paint, retro signage and a double sided bar completes what is a terrific must-visit venue in Leipzig. Smoking allowed, and as an alternative venue this is clearly love-it or hate-it. Choose wisely according to your own needs.
