Description:
Made between 2019 and 2020 on the site of the former Hexenhausl, “The Witches House”, Gans Woanders is a spin off from the Gans am Wasser riverside bar. Woanders means “somewhere else”, in effect.
You’ll find a distinctive house and well-curated venue with mid-level huts and platforms built around tall trees, providing an overlook to a stage and garden. Everything appears bespoke, giving it a distinctive look.
Café by day, but there’s enough going on at night, particularly during summer for it to be worth serious consideration for an evening visit. A cultural roster of live music, poetry slams and even performance art/acrobatics, this is a versatile venue achieving it without becoming overly bland. Perhaps a little more decor in places would help establish its identity even further, but what is there works well, and as the evening approaches it takes on another character.
