Venue Type: Neighbourhood Pub / Casual / Traditional
Year of Inscription: 2026
EBG Rating: 7.5/10
Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
Drinks selection is middling, the lager options aren’t either dire nor especially impressive and the alternatives are perfunctory, but you kind of expect this.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Simple homely interior that is allowed to speak for itself. There is a stables style décor with wagon wheels, wooden frames and mock awnings which is effective in the limited one-room space, seating set around a central bar.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lively, neighbourhood socialising, down-to-earth and unpretentious with a cross-section of the public. Very pubby without feeling like a theme pub in the slightest.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, limited outdoor seating, dartboard, TV.
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
Acceptable, neither outrageously cheap nor unfair.
Description:
Established 1937, a rare example of a casual Swedish neighbourhood pub that doesn’t feel like either a restaurant or a British / Irish theme pub.
The temperance movement annihilated Sweden’s native pub culture and so when restrictions were loosened the country has had to rely heavily on an imported British and Irish pub scene to fill the void.
Here though, there are fewer union jack flags or Guinness signs, instead a simple homely interior that is allowed to speak for itself. There is a stables style décor with wagon wheels, wooden frames and mock awnings which is effective in the limited one-room space.
A popular venue for pub grub but also as a meeting place, dog friendly too with an atmosphere reflecting that looser, casual format. Darts are also available, so don’t be under any impression this is an eatery only.
The drinks selection is middling, the lager options aren’t either dire nor especially impressive and the alternatives are perfunctory, but you kind of expect this.
The name ‘Bodega’ refers to what Danes call pubs, and the proximity between here and Copenhagen may have something to do with that.
While a pretty humble down-to-earth pub it bears repeating these kind of places are sorely lacking all over Sweden.
