Quality of Drinks
Homemade liqueurs of various kinds, schnapps, brandies, spirits etc. Limited selection of beer.

Historic preserved venue with decorative wooden bar, tinted windows and parquet floor. An excellent example of faded grandeur leaning towards the classic Berlin roaring 20s era sleaze.

Very friendly welcoming multi-lingual host with a great reputation. The atmosphere inside has a clandestine feel, as though almost trespassing, heightened by the smoking. The place is undoubtedly special.

Occasional performances in side room. Smoking allowed.
Value For Money
Normal for the area and acceptable given the rare venue.
One of Berlin’s special venues and institutions that it would be a shame to miss out on visited. Beer is not the main event here (although you will see most people with a glass on their table) but the range of liqueurs provided by the proprietor, all stacked behind the bar. A friendly, locally famous guy runs the show and was very welcoming to us on both occasions. Smoking is allowed which will deter some but ultimately completes the sense of atmosphere and place as you are transported back through history. The dollop of sleaze and historic glamour transports you to the roaring 20’s era.
