Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️
A competent café bar selection covering a broad base, with some excellent wines, while beers are a weaker suit. There is opportunity to bring in local brewers, surely.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Eye-catching interior with a deliberately homely feel, if a home featured more tables than usual and far more books. Even each step of the stairs has its own book. Two floors with two rooms on the ground floor and a basement performance room with a small stage. Plenty to look at and explore.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A neighbourhood café trade during the week, but the audience diversifies during events nights.

Food, snacks, books, musical instruments, live events
Value For Money❤️❤️❤️
Luxembourg prices, but not particularly outside the norm.
DescriptionLe Bovary, referencing the eponymous Madame, is situated on the outskirts of Luxembourg but easily reachable either by a 25 stroll from the lower town or one of several buses that pass by. Don’t be put off!

The concept is of a neighbourhood café bar with a homely feel, decorated in the style of a traditional lounge but with hundreds of books lining the shelves and even stairs.

With music instruments and a stage downstairs, this is the venue for performances including poetry readings in keeping with its mission. You can order meals and come for a drink – reasonably priced during the week.

The place is characterful even on quiet dozy mid-week afternoons but adds another dimension on busy evenings, vibrant with life. Really one of Luxembourg’s standouts.
