Description:
Lüneburg is twinned with Scunthorpe (implausibly given the drastically different nature of both towns) but links are forged for all manner of reasons, and one element of this inheritance is Scunthorpe park, the green space in front of where this late bar and rock venue is based.

They’ve been going since 1984 and in that timeframe they’ve resisted making too many changes to the interior, which is somewhat of a social document.

There’s a hazy atmosphere, not only from the cigarette smoke but a patina of history that is palpable from every fixture and fitting.

Set just off the city centre, you don’t just wander here – you know about it or you don’t.

Klatsch hosts live music and at other times operates as a scuzzy, friendly knockabout bar that is well worth your time, providing you have a change of clothes in the morning!

Many bands have played their first ever gigs here and the legacy has been such that they’ve been featured on state television.

The terms ‘cult’ and ‘iconic’ usually start hoving into view about now, but that’s genuinely what it is. Sure, this is not a bar for everyone, but for those people who it is for, they love it.
