Description:
A lively pub popular with students and something of a cult venue in Lund (which wouldn’t be difficult given it has about 10 bars in total).

Lund is a university city but unlike most, you can’t claim it has a particularly lively nightlife. While in many ways the image of an enlightened society, and beautiful in Spring and Summer, something happens in the evenings that hollows out the city – students all go to Malmö and the remainder go here.

It is only a 13 minute train ride from here to Malmö, and due to the excellent public transport I was able to go from the furthest Eastern reaches of Lund to Malmö city centre in around half an hour.

Does this mean Lund should be overlooked? Not at all, but you could view it as a partner to a trip to Malmö rather than a destination all of itself. It’s certainly historic and extremely pleasant.

Café Ariman feels like it is having to punch above its weight and you can feel that in the effort it puts in to providing for its locals.

Late opening 6 nights a week (barring the rather 1950s era 9pm closing on Sunday), and packed with reasons to visit. Capturing the essence of student and post-grad life, no matter if young or young-at-heart, there’s a certain expression, a certain body language that betrays when someone is familiar and comfortable in their surroundings and in Ariman you can sense this in every direction you look.

Lively and atmospheric in the evenings in particular where it moves past the café surroundings of the daytime.
