| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The strongest beer selection in the region, even with good competition from Abbot’s nearby. 30 taps, sometimes a cask line, (virtually impossible to find in Ireland most of the time) covering local beers to cutting edge craft to classics. A very decent whisky selection at the back bar too. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️ A very late 00s type US-craft influenced decor. Grey paint, a long bar and brewery signage, which at least brightens it a little. Ungrey the damn thing, please. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A beer specialist bar, but one that can see a more mainstream crowd. Beer specialists tend to pop up on lists of where to go, so the next batch of people on the plane often find themselves here, giving it an international flavour. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Snacks, Merchandise, Live Events |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Honestly, pretty good for what’s on offer and a tad better value than the local competition. Less good value for the merchandise. |
| Description | Set up in 2006, this particular US-inspired beer specialists looks every inch from its era. A long bar with grey walls festooned with brewery signage (hey, at least the signage adds some colour and identity). While the interior could be improved upon, the selection of drinks is phenomenal for Ireland, and would stand out in most European cities too. Local beers from smaller independent breweries compete for tap space alongside latest craft brands and European classics. The bottle selection is mighty too, while a divertingly strong looking shelf of whiskies is enough to make you second guess your selection. Adding much needed depth and variety, Bierhaus has become a firm fixture on Cork’s circuit. We can recommend going, but we can also recommend the venue takes the opportunity for a sympathetic refit of warm colours and nicer furnishings – the potential is there for an even better environment.
