Venue Type:  Munich Boazn / Corner Bar / Kneipe / Neighbourhood Pub

Year of Inscription: 2025

EBG Rating: 7.5/10

Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
Typical basic kneipe style selection. A draft beer (Augustiner Helles) and relatively broad but mainstream back bar for alternatives.

Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A simple “Laden” style frontage in blue and white leads to a small corner pub with row of seating opposite a long bar. Colourful and highly personalised, twee in places but very much an extension of the owners identity and so distinctive with it.

Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Exceedingly friendly and welcoming with an iconic owner and cast of regulars who have kept the place cheerful and welcoming. Colourful, friendly, a little twee in that typical middle aged German way, but popular with a true range of people. A pub that embodies our broad but overlapping needs for fellowship and having a good time.

Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Limited outdoor seating, games, events, occasional cooked food, snacks.

Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fair value for most that’s on offer here.

Description:
One of Munich’s Boazn,  which are a vanishing aspect of the city’s nightlife, one that is often overlooked by visitors in the rush to the vast beer halls of the city centre. Boazn are, to generalise, little pubs, commonly owned and run by middle-aged or older women, local neighbourhood hangouts. These often have a personalised and sometimes eccentric feel, with a homeliness and cheer to them that makes them endearing places to be.

Bei Dagmar has been in this location relatively recently, only since 2023, but it has become a cult pub in the meantime.

Dagmar Ehlert, the owner does the day shifts, sometimes cooking a mean goulash to go with beers.

There are locals, regulars, friends of the family but these people greet newcomers as though you were already fond friends. That’s a special thing indeed.

A small bar with Augustiner Helles on draft, a kindly owner and friendly patrons. Yes, simple, but a simple thing done well is indeed a thing to praise.
