| Description | To understand Freiburg’s nightlife you have to connect with its student scene, the crucible of culture in this young and lively city. This means checking out the district of Stühlinger west of the tracks as well as the Altstadt, walkable but also reachable on a short tram journey. Home to a few of the best punk and dive bars outside Berlin, this is a lively city with energy that belies its low-rise, genteel architecture and winding streets. Position Butzemann in the heart of more famous big city districts like Neukolln or Ehrenfeld and it would be right at home. A scuzzy, unpretentious hangout with a friendly collegiate vibe, some decent drinks including Tremens on tap and table football for some fun. Prices are reasonable and there are events hosted here, but mainly it’s about enjoying a venue that’s at the heart of a particular scene, also because you can visit many cities and not find a single place like this one. |
