Choice/ Quality of Drinks	❤️❤️❤️❤️ Bespoke cocktails created to match customer preference – in reality this seems to involve the same dozen or so being produced, but it’s fun while it lasts. Bottles of beer and occasional casks of ale have previously featured.
Style/ Décor	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Boarded up shopfront leading to an antiques/bric-a-brac strewn study, a converted front room with a narrow bar behind it and ramshackle/bohemian outdoor area. Dimly lit, with books, shelves, bunting, lamps and vintage furniture.
Atmosphere/ Character	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ An immensely characterful and atmospheric venue, the kind that arises from an inspired but also ad hoc approach rather than corporate financing and demographic/template led design.

Description	Almost the definition of a love-or-hate place. If the idea of a tiny, cramped, ramshackle high concept cocktail bar unmarked from the street where they make drinks loosely in accordance with your tastes sounds, good, terrible, or somewhere in between, there is really only one way to find out. Of course, we really liked it. Don’t be deterred by its unmarked exterior deliberately designed to appear like a boarded-up shop. An antique shop as well as a bar, they claim you can put a bid in on any of the artefacts strewn around the place. Formerly hosted a dog that would prowl around, but that passed away. Service is very friendly and places you at ease in the setting, and it’s a special intimate atmosphere, a non-corporate setting you’d never find somewhere in a city like Leeds where every new bar is big budget and sculpted to within an inch of its life to fit specific demographics. This place really isn’t like that. Lastly, please note that the owner is looking to sell the business but will keep running it until 2027 unless no buyer is found. (Added August 2024)
