Set in ancient rock vaults underneath the castle, the bar furnished with a lamplit saloon bar entrance room and glitzier, off-centre bar area. Small overall but with a sense of space to it.

The characterful environment is reason enough to visit, but the bar itself keeps a reasonable tempo and energy too. Service is quick and matter of fact, and the crowd varies from touristic in summer months to a healthy mixture the other 8 months of the year of visitors and locals.

While expensive for some basics, the cocktails are reasonable considering the location and competition nearby.

Description:
A 1990s cocktail bar based in ancient stone vaults set directly into the rock face. The natural environment proves an atmospheric place to hang out. Unlike Apotheke up the road, Zapa has a less exclusive feel, somewhere for anyone to come in and socialise. The cocktails are good, but the atmosphere is more casual, with more tempo to it as well. The pricing corresponds to this also. If you lived here you’d be visiting the place a lot.

The bar area has a slightly glitzier feel, with the pubby entrance room feeling more versatile overall, both serving well. We can only recommend a visit.
