Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A versatile range of options, particularly the back bar, with superior Rums and whiskies to the typical Czech pub. Beer options are more familiar, but they do have an association with Pilsner Urquell which hopefully ensures good standards.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A very characterful little one room bar with small stage in the corner and bar itself on the far side. Decorated with a dense array of ephemeral bar fittings which go beyond the typical Irish bar confines, spreading their wings further.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
As a live music venue there can be times of day which feel ‘saggy’, but the interior and pleasant courtyard are worth hanging out in whether quiet or busy. On busier evenings, particularly in Spring and Summer the bar comes into its own.

Value For Money❤️❤️❤️
Typical central Pilsen prices, nothing offensive.
DescriptionIn Pilsen, Zach’s Pub occupies the space known as ‘the institution’. Established in 1995, offering live concerts and opening late 7 nights a week means this is a venue most residents have been to at least once.

Originating as an Irish pub, the theme is thankfully not taken over by that, but you will find the walls of their small inside saloon cluttered in fixed mirrors and posters. It would be best described as Irish-adjacent, and simply stems from the time when Czechia was seeking different reference points for bars. The most Irish it gets is Guinness on tap.

These days, a schedule of gigs keeps the bar busy, with spring and summer evenings its zenith as the atmosphere spills outside in its courtyard and from their stage area. In winter, a small stage in the corner, little more than a step has hosted many mini performances over the decades.

As for drinks, the place offers a broad back bar reflecting its status as something beyond a typical central European pub, while on tap, the predictable Pilsner Urquell and Guinness are supported by some budget options – on our visit Poutník, but previously Hubertus. Prices are middling for the city centre, but not offensive considering the general offering. This is somewhere to visit with a few friends when the evening is bubbling up nicely in order to see at its best.
