| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️ Standard café bar wares but a broad range. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A cute basement hangout in a historic building. Unmarked from the outside, with vintage interior among several side rooms, with a leafy atrium/courtyard |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Very pleasant atmosphere in what may be a famous bar but remains a pleasantly hidden away, clandestine place. Friendly service and a social scene that’s purposefully international. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Events, snacks, outside seating, smoking permitted, books, games |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Standard fare for the area, pretty reasonable. |
| Description | Founded in 1999, acquiring the nickname ‘Grandma’s house’, this hidden bar and cultural centre is one of Serbia’s most famous bars. Decades later, it maintains the original sense of place and purpose with vintage furniture, friendly service and a deliberately international, collegiate atmosphere hosting cultural events and exchanges, live music and talks, and generally being a set of good people. Despite the basement location there is a leafy atrium if you fancy some fresh air (or what counts for that in central Belgrade) and even after one visit you come away feeling like if you lived here, you’d be in this place a lot. That’s as good a compliment as you can pay a bar. (Added June 2023) |
