| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pilsner Urquell, Bernard, an above average range of fruit brandies. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Hilltop cabin with rustic exterior and genteel exterior set around a sizeable bar. Wooden furniture all-round. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A slightly twee fairytale feel to the cabin in the woods, but the big budget/professional operation snaps you out of that a touch. Service is warm and friendly and although it is largely built for food, this is not a rule in any sense. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, shop, playground, outdoor seating |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Not the best priced pub in Moravia for sure, but the quality is good. |
| Description | The first private pub in Frenstat following the fall of the socialist regime in 1990, the pub operation dating back a long way prior, from 1873. It began life as a hilltop rest stop for travellers and hikers, gaining a reputation gradually over time. These days, you’ll find the location very pleasing, a gentle woodland climb from the town centre with grand views over the valley once you reach the top. Inside, they have purposefully retained a twee, genteel cabin feel, although it does also feel largely newly fitted and furnished. The operation largely survives around food these days, but a large bar and pleasing homely surroundings make it feel worthy of Inn/pub status. With such a good reputation for cooking, prices are pitched accordingly, with a limited menu of homespun classics, including Bryndzove Halusky, a dish normally synonymous with Slovakia, which shows you where you are in the country. Pilsner and Bernard beers are very decent and the service is kind and attentive too. While we would of course prefer if it developed some casual social space (perhaps in the corner of the room next to the bar), the operation is positive enough across the board to warrant an inclusion.
