| Description | A local curio. Set in a park, an old mail wagon has been restored and refurbished after 6 years of service on the tracks in the 20th century. The bar opened in 2000 and is still going. Homely inside with careful thought as to the spacing and layout. There is a natural ambience any time of day or year. This isn’t a place you would simply stumble over, as it is around 20 minutes walk from the main station in an area otherwise not much served by pubs. A local institution nevertheless, if a highly provincial one. There are a broad range of drinks, particularly spirits that you can choose from, and if the atmospheric twinkle and gloom of the interior doesn’t fit your needs, a spacious garden area probably will. Daily barbecues in warmer months provide a further reason to drop by. A distinctive venue with good drinks and a versatile friendly operation, that’s obscure enough that we’re probably the only people outside CZ to exhibit the pub in this way. (Added October 2024) |
