| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pivovar Bizon beers on tap, usually 4-5 on rotation with some specials and further fridge options. A typical, familiar selection of back bar options, because specialist beer is the focus. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️ A corner boozer with simple furnishings. Well maintained with sturdy wooden tables, traditional style but recent fit. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Warm, comfortable and more welcoming than a typical backstreet corner hospoda too. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, takeaway, seasonal events, outdoor seating, TV |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Nearer to the going rate for the city centre, but in line with the quality of produce. |
| Description | U Jirky offers superior beers in a corner bar neighbourhood setting. It’s a small, warm, well-appointed space, traditional but typically minimalist and in good repair. Their beers are from Pivovar Bizon with occasional specials, a notch above the typical offerings around the city. It’s a relaxing space, somewhere to unwind or have a chat with friends rather than go wild, and this can be seen in its audience, something of a man-creche at certain times in the afternoon or on match days with the TV on. Service is willing and not fazed by new faces (which is always appreciated by us in Czechia), while the beer is fresh and well-poured. It’s also somewhere to eat, offering an also rather masculine array of food options with daily menus, seasonal specials and snacks. For local life, good beers and a warm, comfortable environment that is quintessentially Czech and tourist-free, we can certainly recommend it. (Added March 2025) |
