A typical upright pub-diner with rows of communal wooden seats in a corner venue. Adjoined to a minibrewery it shares a kitchen with.

Feels like the centrifuge of social activity during the day in Nusle district. Busy, chatty, but rarely/never breaking out into any revelry.

Value For Money❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fair value for drinks and still very reasonable value for its daily menu.
DescriptionOne of Prague’s famous pubs made so by its association with writer Jaroslav Hasek, whose anarchist meetings took place here while developing his satirical (and hilarious) political party The Party For Moderate Progress Within The Bounds of The Law.  These days its a busy, business like but still charming enough fixture in Nusle district’s social scene, with rows of street drinking and an old fashioned pub diner inside. Known across the city for its baked duck stuffed with dumplings, this can be obtained at lunchtime at a very affordable price. In the past this place had a reputation for being very frosty to foreigners, but these days if you come armed with a few phrases and good manners, you will be treated as well as anyone in the pub. A further quirk is it shared a kitchen with the adjoining microbrewery pub, the two places both distinct and yet slightly melding into one. (Added October 2023)
