Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
30+ taps of French and Swiss craft beer including some cider, along with an entire shop for alternatives which can be drunk in the bar. Hog’s heaven.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A modest shop front with awning leads into a surprisingly large warehouse style venue with high ceiling, with a bar adjacent to the shop counter, with long communal tables and raised areas. The space overlaps with a cafe to the left of a T shaped room. Decorated in a low key, but colourful and personalised way.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of those venues that requires people in order to drum up atmosphere. Friendly whether busy or quiet, but atmospheric in the evenings and when events are on.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Shop, merchandise, takeaway, food, snacks, books, board games, events
Value For Money:
❤️❤️
Typically remorseless Swiss prices.
Description:
Tom Beers was our first bar visited in Geneva and somewhat set the tone, offering an experience that is pointedly different from the refinement the city yearns for. Instead, a personalised, if familiar warehousey space is unpretentious and focused on content.
The content is impressive too. 30+ taps and a whole shop worth of alternatives make this a specialist venue. Most of the offerings on tap focus on French and Swiss craft giving you plenty to explore – providing you have the wallet to afford it.
Service is friendly and there’s a come-one-come-all collegiate feel which again runs counter to preconceptions you may have of Swiss bars. You’ll as easily find some beer monsters as a family with kids here without it feeling like a clash.
As a large warehousey venue it requires people for it to really come alive for atmosphere, but events, board games and a versatile set of options creates a lasting appeal.
