Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
A very typical, patrician range of Tuborg, Carlsberg and Danish brown liqueur with some basic corporate alternatives.

Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Basic green signage outside and step up to the interior. A basic layout shorn of the kind of tourist tat that may send the wrong signals. A small bar room with a nice niche, then a larger pub room decorated with old photographs and lamp light – there’s not much else to it than that.

Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lively bar life and politician’s gossip, occasional tourists, a prevailing sense of institution.

Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Snacks, events, stall at the annual carnival, newspapers. Has formerly served lunches.

Value For Money:
❤️❤️
Not the cheapest, even in the city centre.

Description:
Nothing less than an institution. A 100+ year history, with more recent connections too. Newly elected politicians have a rite of passage acting as bartender at Toga, while the pub is commonly used for off-the-record gossip and trading of favours over a drink. Naturally this has resulted in attention being drawn to it, yet it still retains a Danish audience rather than a touristic one.

A basic layout helps with that, shorn of the kind of tourist tat that may send the wrong signals. A small bar room with a nice niche, then a larger pub room decorated with old photographs and lamp light – there’s not much else to it than that. The atmosphere at the bar is usually emblematic of its audience and purpose.
