Description:
A cult venue in Poznan that has been going for longer than most of its typical audience have been alive. Open 7 days a week, its idea of an early night is a 2.30am closing.

Such reliable stalwarts acquire a reputation and Thonet has been the footnote, denouement and full stop to many thousands of nights out for decades.

A basement bar with its iconic green sign on the street pointing the way into a reasonably deep set of rooms.

Brick vaults and décor that doesn’t look like it has changed a bit in the passing years, offering in all its staleness a counter-intuitive sense of freshness. It has never moved with the times.

Strategic lighting, a smoking room and cheap beer – around the cheapest you’ll find in central Poznan attracts a young audience along with a few nostalgic post-grads and crusties.

It’s shocking to think that such bars are on the decline even in major cities, and simply don’t exist in the provinces. However, as long as Thonet keeps going you may cast aside such Weltschmerz. Enjoy the grime, the fun and the energy.
