Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Real ale fans will scowl at the absence of cask ales, while the keg options are mediocre. A good selection of German and Belgian bottles is the saviour, with a competent back bar for alternatives.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️
An attractive frontage with nouveau style frames leads to an alternative hangout. L-shaped room with cream walls, bench seating and a Belgian café type atmosphere accentuated with cycles on the ceiling. Two fish tanks either side of the room.
Atmosphere/
Character

A quirky hangout that provides a breath of fresh air from the Victoriana and heritage pubs in the vicinity, somewhat alternative with a different crowd to match.

Pizzas (order from nearby), snacks, fish tanks, live events

No more than standard for the area
DescriptionThe sister pub to the Tourmalet, the Ventoux is another Tour de France themed café bar with an alternative feel, from the fish tanks in the knockabout bar room to the graffiti in the bogs – you know where you are. Casual and relaxed, with a lack of stuffiness that makes it a nice change to many of the Victoriana and heritage pubs nearby (nice though they are). An absence of good tap options is perhaps the key weakness, but if you’re a fan of German and Belgian beers this fills the void satisfactorily. They have a connection to a nearby pizza place where you can order in. Altogether one to mark down unless you are absolutely scrupulously obsessed with cask ale. (Added February 2024)
