Description
|
No great anticipation arises as you approach the Smithfield with its generic grey-wash exterior, however on entry the place has an immediate draw with its simple farmhouse-y appearance with high ceilings and stripped back rustic décor. A rounded seating area envelopes the bar, with a backroom that acts somewhat as overspill but is more pubby and less café like than the bar. The regular clientele are late middle aged and as such, the place lacks a certain verve outside of evenings and match days where it comes alive. Cask ale options are great but there is room for improvement on keg and the back bar. Overall though, the appeal is sufficient to merit an inclusion.
