Style/ Décor	⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Architectural masterpiece, a tall ornate Edwardian pub with carved wood bar and fine detailing. Executed with a flamboyant, confident panache and very well preserved. Rear lounge room past the bar.
Atmosphere/ Character	⭐⭐⭐⭐ Due to the opulent surroundings an interesting place whether quiet or busy. Has the air of a famous city institution.

Description	One of the North East’s jewels, this building is itself one of Sunderland’s finest, inside a heritage pub preserved from the Edwardian era with a flamboyance to the wood detailing that catches the eye. Inside it isn’t a museum but a relevant thriving city centre institution with a large array of cask and keg ales from the most old fashioned around to the most in vogue. Meals and snack menu is similarly up to date and decent standard. Clearly a destination venue for any visitors to the city. (Added March 2023)
