Distinctive venue with preserved heritage interior, tiles, ornate saloon bar and comfy snug backroom. A survivor and worth seeking out. Very large whisky selection and local cask ales. Current tenants in dispute with Star Taverns, the pubco who own the building which has caused a debate about the preservation of pubs of this nature. One of the few heritage pubs remaining in central Manchester and with a precarious future while in the ownership of a company that cares little for such things. When busy, the atmosphere across the pub is a joyful throwback to busy, bustling city taverns of old.
