| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ The de facto Brewery Tap for Ossett with their range of beers on cask in pristine condition, with 1 or 2 guest ales. Beer focused but a relatively well stocked back bar. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A standalone brick building on an industrial estate. An odd location, but inside you’ll find two lounges and a bar room in an opened out ale house. Still traditionally furnished with bench seats and two fireplaces. The backroom still retains décor from when it was taken over by Ossett. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Despite the remote location you may be surprised by the cast of locals even mid-week. Popular with somewhat of a loyal following who make the trek down here. Very cosy in autumn and winter with the fire running. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pies and pub snacks, fireplaces, live music, community events |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Scrupulously fair value for food and drink. |
| Description | A Free House, but in effect Ossett Brewing’s nearest thing to a brewery tap, you’ll find this 19th century building on its own down at hill by an industrial estate, a highly unlikely setting given the lack of neighbouring custom. Despite this, you’ll find a loyal surprisingly plentiful band of customers even midweek. They’re not mistaken, as this is a really lovely place. Two fireplaces at either side of the opened-out main room maintain cosiness, with communal seating around it. This pub is for drinking and socialising, not dining, although their pies and pasties are very good. Characterful rooms including the backroom which is largely unchanged from its former owners. With live events and a sense of community, this ticks all the boxes aside from its odd location! |
