Quality of Drinks
⭐⭐⭐
A decent range covering several bases from cask ales and some limited (but at least present) craft options to the back bar with spirits and mixers.
Style/
Décor
⭐⭐⭐⭐
A narrow two room pub that is small and intimate. Red leather upholstered seats, pokey bar room and 2nd bar opposite what is ostensibly the lounge.
Atmosphere/
Character
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Having retained table service following Covid, this now becomes something of a novelty. In a small space like theirs it works quite well. You will be seen, seated and served quickly. Once that’s sorted out the atmosphere is similar to any other, albeit without standing at the bar, which does lose the place a point or two for dynamism.
Amenities/
Events
⭐⭐⭐
Yorkshire tapas, basic meals, snacks, occasional events
Value For Money
⭐⭐
On the higher end for the town
Description
An unspoilt little pub surviving on a touristy thoroughfare almost in plain sight. You’ll still find the typical poky little bar rooms, red leather upholstered seats and excitable chat as a mixture of tourists and locals take the seats. Yorkshire tapas compliments a reasonable selection of beers and alternatives. Table service has remained even following Covid which may require a little patience at the door. After that the dynamics are fairly similar just with a conspicuous lack of patrons standing at the bar. Outside of that it is an enjoyable, distinctive pub worth a visit to while in the town.
