| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️ A competent range of drinks with a fairly mainstream selection, broad and accommodating without offering much that’s modern or high end. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sprawling venue occupying a front yard of a historic building with the typical bunting, coloured lights and deckchairs, in a reasonably alternative fashion, with a scuzzier late night basement drinking hole attached. All a little ad hoc. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ The central location and less usual format ensures a crowd in the front yard on warm evenings, the space and ability to wander and explore adds an element without quite touching Ruin Bar type experience/ |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Plenty to go at, outdoor seating, exterior food and drinks van, TV, live events, smoking permitted |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ A mid-brow price range for the city centre, unremarkable either way. |
| Description | Zagreb is full of slightly abortive versions of other concepts, which fall in the cracks between its stock and trade – the generic caffe bar, the craft beer venue and the generic cocktail lounge. The Beertija is a central offering with expansive, appealing outdoor courtyard space. Colourful and atmospheric, with a scuzzier basement bar/club attached, the place seems to inhabit the alternative and the mainstream, slightly uneasily but still to its credit. Drinks are competent and there’s a lot to do. For its utility and change of environment, it is worth recommending. (Added April 2023) |
