Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️
A good range of local and regional cask ales with a perfectly competent back bar for alternatives. Weaker keg options however compensated for by a strong selection of cans and bottles.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Revivalist pub with niches, raised areas, mirrors and antique signage. Plush red upholstered seats and old-world ornaments with wood fittings around the bar and side areas. A bland conservatory dining area to the rear.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautifully atmospheric busy or quiet due to the duskiness created by the old-world decor. You’ll find a cosy sport without fail. In the autumn and winter months the hubbub around the bar area creates a special feeling that is one of the key reasons to visit.
Amenities/
Events
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Meals, jukebox, snacks, community events
Value For Money❤️❤️❤️
Reasonable for the area, while not competing with chain pubs like Wetherspoons
DescriptionA true gem, to call this the best pub in Rochdale is somewhat of an understatement. It blows the rest out of the water. Tucked away behind a shopping centre on Toad Lane, a little street that seems out of time, the neighbouring shops adding to the Victorian allure. A true labour of love fitted out in a revivalist old-world pub style with raised areas and niches, large mirrors and antique signage, along with that typical textured ceiling. Good quality local ales with CAMRA discounts available, community events and meals available later in the week. Simply unmissable if you’re going anywhere near the town and have time on hand.
