| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Compact but well-kept range of regional handpulled cask ales, a decent enough keg and fridge selection too. Beer specialists. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A micro-pub with a bar room that’s barely the size of an entrance way, with bench seats and two tables by each window. A small, compact upstairs painted tastefully in dark green offers a streetside view and a more lounge-like layout. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Local life with cast of regulars, you may immediately feel like a fish out of water. The point to these places is really about getting stuck in. If you don’t like the sound of that, don’t visit. There is help from the bar staff who will suggest the quieter upstairs if the bar room is too full-on. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️ Snacks, books, board games |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Reasonably fair value for money for the drinks. |
| Description | The Micro Pub is a quirky format, part inspired by the ale houses of the past with their repurposed/homely layout and social focus, with more modern influences such as ales of different styles. There are many iterations, good and bad – here is one of the effective ones. True local life in situ with a wash of banter flying back and forth at the bar. A tiny bar room with two tables does not provide much escape from that, so steel yourself or get stuck in among them. A decent range of beers for the size and a tastefully decorated upstairs provides enough of an appeal to warrant an inclusion on our guide. (Added October 2023) |
