| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️ Wine focused with 50 reds, 20 whites, most from the region. Typical Spanish taberna options, so short on good beers but well stocked for alternatives. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A rare example of a traditional bar in Valencia centre. Tiled walls and purposefully homely feeling interior. A small terrace obscures a step into a tidy space, carefully curated with niches for seating and a mezzanine area overlooking a traditional bar. Religious iconography decorates the space, in keeping with the nearby churches, cathedral and religious functionary buildings. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A characterful and well put together space with a local crowd despite the central location, mixing with occasional tourists. Casual at the bar and on the terrace while the seating is mainly for dining. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️ Traditional tapas with some seafood focus, outdoor seating. |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️ City centre prices, but not extortionate. |
| Description | A Taberna normally indicates a restaurant, but this pocket-sized and intimate tapas bar feels more casual than that. Maximising space with niches and a mezzanine area, it simply feels pubby, added to by a homely interior, characterful tiling and some interesting religious artwork. Its focus is deliberately to show off the region and tradition, a counterpoint to other changes in the historic core, so one of the few bars in the centre anything like what you’d expect to find. Service is open handed and ready to help, and you can either while away the team with a lovely vermouth, wine or cana of beer on the terrace or at the bar, or settle in for some drinks and tapas in the pubby niches that still offer views onto the activity and nightlife on the street. A must visit for the city. (Added July 2024) |
