Description	The idea of a Scottish club in Prague immediately conjures bad vibes – stag-do’s, terrible music, wall to wall vomiting. Perhaps that’s why we gave this one a swerve all these years. Despite that, information and good reviews continued to trickle in. In October 2024 we gave it a try. Firstly, this is no tourist trap – positioned safely far enough away from anything anyone but the most intrepid traveller (or Scot) would seek out. Does this mean it is all local? Of course not, this is still Prague we’re talking about, but the balance is healthy. “Šedy Pes”, ‘Grey Dog’ is a basement bar with a cosy bar and personalised rear room which has enough going on in it to not feel detached from the action. On the food menu, the usual Czech staples complimented with haggis and black pudding. Pardubice (the brewery is now gone, only the brand remains) beers are supported by Irish stout and a wall of whisky options, most of which are reasonably priced by Czech whisky standards. It’s a lively place where you can make friends quickly, and an informal one too – social focus. The space is such a natural place for a bar to be that they have inherited some of that genius loci. Park any reservations you may have about the theme pub, this is a good marriage of Czech surroundings and beer with a twist that’s for locals rather than tourists.  (Added October 2024)
