EBG Rating: | 8/10 |
Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Surprisingly good with both small-batch brewed Czech lager and some Euro offerings that may be familiar but are atypical for Czech towns. |
Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Curved bunker-like pivnice that’s been turned into an all-purpose evening hangout. Lived-in decor with chunky tables and nik-naks, including the eponymous sewing machines. |
Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Unpretentious, lively, lived-in, knockabout kind of place, one of the town’s longer lasting venues and a bit of an institution. Attracts some alternative, younger audience but also has a collegiate, faintly backpacker type feel. |
Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, games, outdoor seating |
Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Fair given the location |
Description | Not a sister pub to Krakow’s more famous Singer, but the eponymous sewing machines do make an appearance at this bunker-like Pivnice and late night bolthole near CB’s main square. The more familiar down-to-earth qualities are supplemented with some decent and unusual beer options on tap and an uncommon versatility to the place that comes naturally. It’s the opposite kind of venue to the upstanding formal Restaurace or Pivnice’s with tapsters and servers and cutlery on the table, but it isn’t too hostile in its bohemian ways either, most people can find a corner here.
