Location: Na Bídě 15, 572 01 Polička
Venue Type: Pub Restaurant / Traditional
Year of Inscription: 2025
EBG Rating: 8.3/10
Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Drinks wise, things are more typical – Pilsner Urquell, Kozel and the ‘Volba Sladku’, a monthly rotating craft beer style produced by Prazdroj, but are well kept and poured. Typical Czechia back bar.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The pub is located within a row of brightly painted tenements which appear tacked on to the medieval city walls have been turned into a traditional pub which more resembles a German Gaststatte or English country pub than any Czech Hospoda.
Low ceilings, exposed beams and dark wood in intimate spaces, with a carved wood bar, this stands out a mile in a country with not many similar examples.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tremendously characterful by virtue of the interior alone, with a country pub vibe despite the town centre location. Intimate and an atmosphere all of its own.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, outdoor seating, guest rooms.
Description:
A truly quirky pub, Šenk Nožíře Dobroty references an enigmatic knifemaker and inventor who led a colourful life, Jáchym Dobrota. Stories about him range from the vivid to the far-fetched.

The format and atmosphere is like most Czech pubs: casual. If you’re arriving at midday they’ll assume you want food, but it’s not in any way obligatory.
The rooms open out into a nice beer garden at the end of the row.

As a venue, the interior is a standout in the country while the rest is ample to justify popping by on your visit to Polička.
