Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️
A familiar city centre range of beers, one or two interesting ones from West and on keg, but this is not a specialists.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A low-slung ceiling and bunker-like interior with a long bar to the front, and partitioned space alongside. More snug room either side of the bar. Old-fashioned interior with brasses, low-beams with banknotes from around the world pinned to them. Vernished wood panelling alongside the walls emphasizes a bunker/ship like nature to the place.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
With regular live acts there is usually a lively atmosphere on evenings, although it can be worth a look during weekday afternoons for a quieter, but nonetheless characterful experience. A well-known locally famous city pub with the sense of institution which accompanies that.

Value For Money❤️❤️❤️
The going rate in the city centre, nothing out of the ordinary.
DescriptionBelhaven Brewery run this famous pub harking back to 1792, with sailing and seafaring connections, but these days better known for live music and similarly lively atmosphere. Acts perform 4 days a week and when nothing else is going on you can ask to perform yourself.  There are also poetry meetups and due to its cultural connections it can boast an impressive cast list of customers. This of course lends it a sense of institution, bolstered still by the low-beams, varnished wood, scattering of bank notes across the ceiling, crackling fireplaces, and local history on the walls all pointing to the fact that this is not just another pub.On the drinks front, the selection is competent rather than spectacular, though most bases are ably covered, it could perhaps be modernised. Leaving that opportunity to one side though, it is a clearly superior venue for the city.
