| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Two beer lines, one basic and the other quasi-craft, with a good, if predictable back-bar offering. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Walk around the tapestry complex to find the cafe entrance at the rear of the building through a courtyard. Inside a small bar room with large lounge, stage and backroom, with further space leading to a play area and the gallery/museum. High ceilings decorated with the tapestries from the centre. Unique. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Catch it on the right evening and you’ll be looking up local house prices. Vibrant cultural space without some of the crap and pretence that sometimes orbits those activities, this place is about good people doing good. And hey, when there’s nothing on, it’s an atmospheric old venue in its own right, warm and cosy with plenty of niches to slip into a chair with a book and a pint to enjoy. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, outdoor seating, live cultural events, museum, gallery and books…yes, there’s plenty to keep you occupied here. |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Entirely fair value for what’s on offer. |
| Description | One of the genuinely unique venues out there in Europe, not many pubs can claim to be not only attached but part of a tapestry weavers. Gobelinka has been going since the 1960s producing and restoring tapestries, opening a museum and gallery, exhibiting the making and heritage of original works. That gallery spills over into this pub, café, culture centre with a garden out front and large, but cosy space inside. Live music, quiet corners for reading, social meeting space, they do it here at this distinctive, versatile venue. It’s a shame the town is such a pain to get to, but then sometimes that’s also what helps make such experiences special. Catch the venue on a busy evening and you’ll be googling local real estate prices the morning after. (Added November 2024) |
