Description:
Opened in 1967, Mimoza has a longevity that is extremely rare for Croatian cafés and bars, something which has undoubtedly burnished its cult reputation.

Unashamedly about rock music, beer, cigs, pool and darts, it won’t be for everyone but it impresses for what it’s trying to be.

Lively and bustling in the evenings, they stay open late 6 nights a week which makes it the obvious answer to most nightlife questions that aren’t “how do I get home without smelling of smoke?”, though that applies to most Croatian bars.

It has the feel of an American dive bar or saloon, little light penetrating the inside, the terrace a rather perfunctory effort, but inside the dive bar credentials are on show.

Service does a good job keeping everyone satisfied, particularly given it tries to do cocktails as well as beers, the guy is working a shift as he darts back and forth attending to the orders. A jukebox plays, the trails of smoke drift towards the ceiling, and conversation goes back and forth. The pool table area is a particular gathering spot.

Superb ratings are testament to the fact you can take a bar in a specific, distinctive direction without any need to please everyone.
