Description
Simply magnificent cosy, ungentrified freehold pub based halfway up the longest single uphill stretch of road in England. Popular with cyclists and featured on the Tour De France Grand Depart when they visited Yorkshire. Their fleeting fame is commemorated on the walls. Inside you’ll find a simple ungentrified little bar with some decent cask and keg options, to the left up a step a more dining-focused area but still without any bland refurbishment applied, with worn in rugs and cosy, homely surroundings. Unmissable if in the area.
