| Description | An opulent ‘Ratskeller’ that evokes just a hint of the images of the late 19th century high period of brewing and consumption, beautifully restored in the cellar of the fabulous Liberec town hall. Cloistered ceiling, stained glass and a grandeur that makes the venue a one off. This is supplemented by a full range of Svijany’s beer on tap including 2 tank options, one of which is the very pleasant ‘450’. It is a ‘pub restaurant’ rather than a communal drinking Schwemme but nevertheless, there is an unmistakable quality of pubbyness and the down-to-earth Czech character avoids it becoming overly stuffy too. While it would be nice to have a schanke or social area, there is enough going on to ensure this just squeaks onto our guide. (Added April 2023) |
