| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️ A solid range of Belgian classics with a few less common tap options, nothing too obscure or modern though. A compact but competent range of alternatives including wines and Jenevers. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Beautiful historic pub covered in ivy on the exterior, tinted leaded glass windows and a wooden interior with bench seats, large tables and candelabras almost in the style of a German Wirtshaus, but older still. Oil paintings on the wall. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A preserved historic venue in a city centre, with all that entails. Transient custom but a sense of institution too. Above all else, it is comfortable, pleasant and cosy inside. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, outdoor seating, snacks |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ City prices, but not extortionate. |
| Description | It argues to be Antwerp’s oldest pub. Whether that’s true or not is up for debate, but more importantly than its age is how effective it is. A truly beautiful venue with climbing ivy running rampant up the exterior walls and tinted leaded glass in the windows that create an almost holy calm in the cosy wooden interior with its large table, bench seating and candelabras. Reminiscent of Café Vlissinghe in Bruges along with the oil paintings, but just not quite as quirky or outstanding. That is not exactly a criticism, as the venue still remains one of Antwerp’s finest. Take a moment to enjoy the transition from medieval to 1970s as you pay a visit to the bathrooms!
