| Description | Beer specialists in a venue that may primarily be designed to avoid offence or conflict rather than to delight or be different, but the quality of produce is terrific with an array of taps including cask pumps (very rare in continental Europe) and a general quality of finish that hits the mark. A reasonably large bar – if personal space is your thing there’s plenty on offer here. A friendly social crowd of beer lovers both casual and geeky use the venue as a reliable bolthole, with food, outdoor seating and a central location proving a winner. While aspects of the bar are undoubtedly quite dull, it just squeaks over the line onto our guide. (added April 2023) |
